I have owned a mk1/2 fiesta based Spartan Treka, which Adam and myself converted from 1.1 petrol to 1.6 diesel. we also reworked the roll cage fitted mk2 dashboard/seats and renewed the bumpers + bull bars. after a lot of fun off roading adam now owns a mk3 scamp and I am in the process of buying my first scamp a mini based mk2, which I will be changing to a 205 diesel base.
